Who can use Interest?

We offer Interest as part of our Assets product in Australia.

Right now, Interest is available to Wise consumer and business customers with an account currently registered in Australia.

If your address is in Australia, you can switch your balances and Jars to the Interest fund, which is the Franklin Government Cash Fund, and is provided by Franklin Templeton.

What happens if I hold Interest, but move countries?

Any money that you invested in a balance or Jar before you moved countries will remain invested.

Once you’ve moved countries:

  • You can continue to add money into existing Interest balances or Jars — we'll invest it as usual

  • You can't switch other balances or Jars to Interest until you move back to a country where they're available

  • If you decide to switch your invested balances or Jars back to cash, you can't switch that balance or Jar back to Interest

There are some exceptions:

  • If your new address is in the US and Brazil, we’ll switch your invested balances and Jars back to cash. This means we’ll sell all your units as soon as the address has been updated.

Can I use Interest if I’m a US citizen or tax payer?

Not yet. Because of how our fund partner is regulated, we can’t onboard US citizens or taxpayers.

Can I use Interest if I’m a dual tax resident?

Unfortunately, Interest is currently available to Australian customers with a single tax residence, as long as that tax residence country is not the US.
