How do I set up a payment approval?

Payment approvals help businesses control their payments on Wise. Payment approvals are only available in regions where you can open balances and hold money.

You can set up a payment approval for any team member with permission to set up or make payments via transfer. You must have permission to set up payment approvals for other team members. 

You can set up a payment approval for a team members in three ways:

When you add them to the account

You need permission to add or remove team members and change their permissions.

When adding a team member to the account, if you give them permission to set up or make payments via transfer, you’ll get another step where you can set up payment approvals for this team member.

Here, you can choose whether 1 or 2 people need to approve their payments. You can also choose whether all their payments should require approval, or just those over a certain amount.

From the Team page

  1. Go to the Team page

  2. Select Payment approvals. You’ll see any team members with permission to set up or make payments via transfer

  3. Find the team member you want to set up a payment approval for and select Set up approval

  4. Choose whether 1 or 2 people should approve their transfers, and if they only need to be approved over a certain amount

  5. Select Confirm

From Team Member pages

  1. Go to the Team page

  2. Select the team member you want to set up a payment approval for to go to their Team Member page

  3. Select Edit in the Payment Approvals section

  4. Choose whether 1 or 2 people should approve their transfers, and if they only need to be approved over a certain amount

  5. Select Confirm

How do I cancel a payment approval?

  1. Go to the Team page

  2. Select Payment approvals

  3. Find the team member you want to remove the payment approval from and select Edit

  4. Select No approval

  5. Select Confirm no approval

You can also remove a payment approval for a team member on their team member page by selecting Edit in the Payment approvals section.
