Can I stop my child buying things not suitable for under 18s?

The money your child spends is still legally yours, so you’re responsible for how they use their card, and what they buy.

We have controls in place to block payments to certain merchants not suitable for under 18s, which will automatically be applied to your child’s card. While we try our best to make sure these payments are blocked, there may be times when a merchant isn't blocked by mistake.

We can’t stop your child from buying inappropriate things from a merchant that isn’t blocked, for example if they attempted to buy alcohol in a supermarket or corner shop (which are approved merchants).

If you’re worried about your child’s spending, you can set limits for them, monitor their spend and control whether they can use their card online, in store and at ATMs — all from within your account.
