We understand that handling the finances of a loved one who’s passed away can be very difficult.
We do our best to make the process of closing an account, and if needed, withdrawing money, as simple as possible.
How to report a death to Wise and what information we can disclose
Our process is flexible, and we’ll need to understand some things about both you and our deceased customer to help you in the best way possible.
Per our privacy policy, we’re only able to disclose account information to those legally entitled to it.
If you want to find out an account balance or receive activity statements select the following based on your relationship to the customer.
If you're:
an executor appointed in our customer’s will
or the legal next of kin

Who can we share information with?
If you aren’t any of the above, we aren’t able to share any account information with you, even if you’re helping someone. But you can still help them navigate our process.
Follow the relevant link above and include an email address for the executor or next of kin in your communications.
If you’re not legally representing our customer, but request to engage in our process on behalf of the executor or next of kin, your request may be rejected and our ability to communicate further may be terminated. This can be at any time for a variety of reasons and it’s in line with our regulatory responsibilities.
If you’re a business co-owner
If you’re the new director of a business and our deceased customer held ownership of the business account, contact our support team and provide the following documentation to initiate the change of ownership:
The death certificate
A copy of your ID. If you have a Wise account, you can upload your ID here
Legal document showing you're a shareholder or director of the business
Our team won’t be able to disclose any information about the business, but we’ll help transfer ownership of the business to the new director, as soon as possible.
We ask that you have the representative(s) of the estate visit this page and follow our process at their earliest convenience.
