How to use EUR details to receive other currencies via Swift

Having EUR account details allow you to not only receive EUR internationally via Swift, but also 5 other currencies: AUD*, CAD, GBP, JPY, and USD.

Receiving payments internationally via Swift means that the sender's bank uses the Swift system instead of domestic payment methods. There's a fee to receive Swift payments, which you can see on our pricing page.

These payments usually go through several correspondent banks which may charge fees.

Because it goes through multiple banks before reaching Wise, it might take up to 5 working days to get Swift payments credited to your account depending when and from where it was sent.

*You can't receive AUD by Swift if your address is in Australia.

What details do you need to share to receive a payment?

To receive a payment via Swift to your EUR IBAN, you should share:

  • The currency you want to receive

  • Your IBAN

  • Your BIC*

  • Your account address**

*A BIC code identifies banks and financial institutions. It says who and where in the world they are — a sort of international bank code or ID.

**If a bank asks for a bank name and address, use the address shown in your EUR account details. Although Wise isn’t a bank, these details will work for processing your transfer.

We provide a BE (Belgian) IBAN, which any bank can use to send you all the currencies we list. If a bank mentions using an IBAN from a different country, you can read about IBAN discrimination.

You can also use the Share button to send details via Share, Copy, or Download PDF.

What happens when you receive a payment?

We'll credit your balance in the currency sent. For example, if someone sends you JPY, it will go into your JPY balance, or we'll open one for you if you don't have one.

If you try to receive a payment to your EUR details in a different currency from the ones we listed, we'll automatically reject it. It will be sent back to your sender.
