Can I transfer my business account to someone else?

For most business accounts you can leave your Wise Business account, and transfer it to another team member at any time.

If your business is registered in Japan, Hong Kong, or Singapore, please check the exceptions below for the procedure.

How to change ownership

You can only change ownership on the web:

  1. Click on your business name in the top-right corner

  2. Select Team members and payment approvals

  3. Click your name to go to your team member page

  4. Select Transfer ownership — if you don’t have any other team members, you’ll need to Add a team member first

  5. From your list of team members, choose the new owner

  6. Select Continue and leave the account

What happens once I transfer ownership?

Once you transfer ownership of an account, your access is fully cancelled. This means, you can’t log in anymore, and your business Wise cards will be deleted.

You can be invited again at any time.

If the current account owner isn't available to transfer ownership

If the current owner is not available to transfer ownership of the business account, a business director needs to contact us and request the change.

We’ll need the following information from a director:

  • an official document showing that you’re a director e.g. a registration document

  • ID for the director and a selfie with ID

  • an email address for the new owner

The new owner will need to have a personal Wise account, with a verified ID and 2-step verification enabled.

If the future owner does not have a Wise account, they'll need to open one and complete verification before we can transfer the business to them.

Regional exceptions

Singapore

If the new account owner is the director of business you can transfer ownership yourself by following the usual steps above.

If the new account owner is not the director of business:
  1. Fill out the Singapore authorisation letter.

  2. Contact us to request a change in ownership. Make sure to upload the authorisation letter.

Japan

Only the representative director of the company (or the sole trader) can be the account owner. To transfer your business account ownership to the new representative director:

  1. Scan/copy your certificate of registered matters issued within the last 6 months.

  2. Contact us to request a change in ownership. Make sure to upload your certificate of registered matters with your request.

Hong Kong

1. Get the required documents ready.

  • For all business types if the new account owner is not the beneficial owner or the director of the business fill out the Hong Kong authorisation letter.

  • For Partnerships or Sole traders: Business Registration (BR) certificate or Partnership registration document

  • For Limited companies: No additional documents required

2. Contact us to request a change in ownership. Make sure to upload any required documents.
