We’re updating our Japanese Yen (JPY) account details to make transferring money easier. Your new account details to send money to your Wise account will use the bank code 0200 and bank name: ワイズ・ペイメンツ・ジャパン.
This is because we now access the Zengin System, Japan’s main payment network. This direct connection lets us send your transfer faster and with lower fees.
I still have my GMO, MUFG, or PayPay Bank details
In the future, we won’t display the old GMO, MUFG, or PayPay bank details.
You might still see these details when you set up a transfer, and you can still use them to complete your payment for now.
But we recommend you update your saved payee lists in your online banking to the new 0200 bank code as soon as you can.
I accidentally sent money to the old bank details
If you sent money to our old details, it should still arrive within 2 working days. If you don't see the money in your account after 2 working days — contact us for help.
To avoid delays in the future, delete any old Wise bank details from your online banking's registered payee list.
Can I share my new JPY account details?
No, these JPY account details are unique to you. You shouldn’t share them with anyone else.
The money you add to your Wise account must come from a bank account in your own name. If the sender's name doesn't match the name on your Wise account, we won't be able to process the payment.
Why was my payment returned?
We have to return payments for a few reasons. If we can't accept your transfer, we'll automatically send the money back to the sender's account within 2 working days.
This could be because:
The sender's name didn't match — the money must come from a bank account in your own name. We can't accept money from a friend, family member, or any other third-party account.
Incompatible payment type — we don't accept all types of payments, for example we can't process payments received as a salary, a bonus, or cryptocurrency exchange.
