Getting paid to your Wise Business by card

With a Wise Business account in the EEA, the UK, Australia, or Singapore, you can request a payment from anyone and send them a link to pay you for your goods or services by credit or debit card. In the US, this feature is available in a limited beta. This feature isn't available yet in any other regions.

How to apply for this feature

Any business with a registered address in the EEA, UK, US, Australia, or Singapore, can apply to receive card payments. When you apply, you’ll need to:

  • provide the address of your business website

  • tell us what your business does

  • agree to how we charge card fees

In some cases, we may not be able to provide this feature for your business, even in eligible countries. We're continuously working on expanding our product to all customers and hope that this feature can be made available to you in the future.

How to get paid by card

Once you have this feature, from the app or web:

  1. Request a payment, create an invoice in Wise, or share your Quick Pay link with your customer

  2. Select Card as a payment method

  3. Share the link with your customer

  4. We’ll tell you when your customer has paid, and we’ll email them proof of their payment

  5. We’ll notify you again when your money arrives

Our fees already cover Visa and Mastercard card scheme and interchange fees, so you won’t be charged anything extra.

Once your payment arrives, you can check the fee we charged in your Activity.

What it costs your customer

We don't charge your customer anything, but their bank or card issuer might charge them a fee if:

  • they're paying you in a foreign currency

  • they’re paying with a credit card

  • their bank treats the payment to Wise as a cash advance

If your customer isn’t sure what they’ll be charged, ask them to check with their card issuer.

Limits for card payments

You can request up to 10,000 GBP, or the equivalent in another currency, per payment. There's a limit on the total number of requests in a 24-hour period. These limits help Wise lower risks for this service.

How long it takes to receive the payment

It can take up to 14 days to pay out your money after you receive a payment from your customer, depending on the type of business you are running.

For some currencies, payouts sometimes can take longer. But you can always see the estimated payout time in the Transactions details section by selecting the transaction in your activity feed.

In cases where we decide to close your account, we may retain your funds for a period of up to two months. This retention period allows us to address any incoming chargeback requests for which you remain liable.

This section corresponds to Schedule 1 settlement timeframes in the EEA Agreement for Acquiring Payment Services.

How to issue refunds

You can now issue refunds to anyone who paid you by card through the Request payment option. The refund will go back to the original paying card.

You can go to your Transactions on the home screen, or:

  1. Go to the Payments tab

  2. Select either Payment links or Invoices

  3. Select the Request, and then the specific payment

  4. Select Refund payment

  5. Choose how much you want to refund — it can be any amount up to the full amount paid. You can choose to issue a few partial refunds, but the total shouldn't be more than the full amount

If you refund your customer, you won't get a refund on the fees you paid for using our service when charging the payer.

Refunds to the card can take 2-10 working days to arrive.
