How do I receive money with my CAD account details?

Account details are a set of details for a currency to receive money.

Once you have your CAD account details, you’ll have your own account details where you can receive Canadian dollars.

This isn’t a bank account, but you can receive money in the same way by sharing the details with friends, family, clients or companies, so that they can send you money.

They can pay you locally from their Canadian bank, or internationally by Swift. Once you receive the money, it’ll be credited to your CAD balance.

Opening new account details

You’ll first need to open a CAD balance. Then you select Get your account details and follow the steps.

We’ll need to verify you before we can provide details to you.

Checking your account details

To see your details once you’ve got them, on the app or web:

  1. Go on your CAD balance

  2. Select the account details button just under the currency

  3. You can view and copy your local account details to share with others

You can also request payments from your sender.

Payments from inside Canada

Share your local CAD details with the person who wants to pay you:

  • Name

  • Institution number

  • Transit number

  • Account number

You can receive EFT credits, also known as direct deposits, or with Interac Autodeposit. Most people making personal transfers in Canada use Interac, so they may not be familiar with sending EFT credits. They may need to reach out to their bank for help.

Payments from outside Canada

Payments by Swift to CAD details

To receive international Swift payments, share this with your sender:

  • Name

  • Account number

  • Swift/BIC code

  • Bank name and bank address shown on your CAD account details screen

Payers can send Swift payments to your account from anywhere in the world. Keep in mind it's usually cheaper and faster to receive to local account details.

They should only send you CAD to these account details, because we can't process international payments in any other currency.

There’s a flat fee to receive CAD by Swift deducted from the final amount. Check our pricing page for the latest fees. Some correspondent banks might also apply their own fees.

Your sender might ask you for an institution number, transit number, or routing number. Our partner bank doesn’t use these to process Swift payments, so ask your sender to to make a domestic transfer, or check if their bank can make the payment with the Swift/BIC code and account number.

Payments by Swift to GBP details

You can also receive CAD from outside Canada by Swift into your GBP IBAN.

Let the sender know that you want to receive in CAD into your GBP details so you can avoid conversion fees. Some banks might recognise the GBP IBAN and want to convert CAD to GBP, but this isn't necessary.

If their bank asks them the country of the recipient’s (your) bank, tell them to select the United Kingdom.
