Why can't I set up guaranteed rate transfers anymore?

If your usage of Wise doesn’t align with our Customer Agreement, we may remove the guaranteed rate feature from your account.

Why was the feature removed?

Wise is not a currency trading platform. We may remove the guaranteed rate feature if we notice behavior such as:

  • Rate shopping: Setting up multiple transfers to lock in different rates, then only funding the best one.

  • Excessive cancellations: Setting up and cancelling transfers without intending to fund them.

  • Unfunded transfers: Setting up transfers while waiting for money to arrive. You should only set up a transfer when you have the funds available to send.

How can I get the feature back?

This removal is usually temporary. If you continue to use Wise in line with our Customer Agreement, the feature may be automatically restored to your account.

Our team cannot provide a specific timeframe for this, as it depends on your future transfer activity.

How can I use Wise in the meantime?

You can still send money using the live mid-market rate. If you need to send a fixed amount, here are some alternatives:

  • Auto Conversions: You can pick your desired rate and we'll convert your money automatically when the market meets it.

  • Pay from your Wise currency: If you hold the currency in your Wise account, you can fund the transfer directly for a fast conversion.

  • Set a Rate Alert: Use Rate Alerts to track the market and send money when the rate reaches your target.

  • Use the calculator: When setting up a transfer, enter the exact amount you want your recipient to receive in the calculator.
