How does Wise verify my business address?

As a financial institution, Wise needs to verify where your business operates to comply with regulations and keep everyone's money safe.

What addresses do we need?

For all businesses, we collect two addresses:

  1. Registered address - Where your business is officially incorporated and the one listed on your official business registration document (for example, on your Companies House registration)

  2. Trading address - Where you actually run your business day-to-day (your office, home, shop, etc.)

These may be the same address, but it’s perfectly acceptable for these to be different.

Your trading address can’t be:

  • A PO Box

  • Mail forwarding or receiving service

  • Virtual office

  • Solicitor's or attorney office

  • Business registration agency

What documents do we accept?

For your trading address:

We accept documents in the name of your business as described in the section below

  • Utility bills: gas, electric, broadband / internet, or landline phone (no mobile phone bills)

  • Lease, rental, or commercial agreement

  • Bank/credit card statements

  • Business licences or registration documents

  • Tax documents (tax filing, tax returns, correspondence from the relevant tax authority e.g. HMRC or IRS)

  • Business insurance policies (commercial, umbrella, business owner’s liability, professional)
