Will I get charged for using my debit or credit card in the UK?

When you make a transfer with Wise, we offer different ways you can pay by GBP, including bank transfer, mobile wallets, and card. They will cost differently, because some methods are quicker or slower than others. Here you can learn how we charge when you pay by card.

Learn about our fees and prices

Paying by card

Paying by card the most convenient and stress-free way to send money abroad with Wise. It’s also faster to set up — you just need to type in your card details, or use your fingerprint with Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Processing these transactions is more expensive for businesses like Wise — your money isn’t sent to Wise instantly. As a result, Wise needs to do extra work to speed it up, and that’s a costly thing to do. But this extra expense doesn’t make Wise any more profit — it simply covers the extra costs associated with this type of transfer.

How will I know how much I'm charged?

We'll always show the fee upfront. You can check this when setting up your transfer on Wise, or you can go on our home page and scroll down to our pricing calculator — you can check how much your transfer will cost before you set it up. The fee will depend on the amount, what currency you're sending to, and where.

We’ll always strive for fair and transparent pricing

At Wise, we aim to charge you only for what you use. We'll charge differently depending on the payment method you choose because of speed and operating costs. The different prices are shown transparently and upfront in our calculator.
