Sending to AUD

Who can I send AUD to?

You can send AUD to any bank account or PayID account in Australia. 

What information do I need about my recipient?

You’ll need their full legal name that matches their bank account, their full address (we don’t accept PO boxes), their 6-digit BSB and 5–9 digit bank account number.

How much can I send?

You can send up to 5 million AUD per transfer. 

How long does it usually take for the money to arrive?

Once Wise receives and converts your money, it usually takes 0–2 working days to arrive in your recipient’s bank account. Conversion can take up to 2 working days. 

We’ll always give you an estimate for how long your transfer will take when you set it up.

Sending from AUD

How can I pay for my transfer from AUD?

There are 5 ways to send money from AUD:

  • bank transfer

  • debit/credit card

  • PayID

  • send money from your balance

  • Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS)

How much can I send?

  • Bank transfers – up to 1.8 million AUD (your bank might have their own limits)

  • Card – up to 18,000 AUD

  • PayID – up to 50,000 AUD

  • RTGS – no limit

  • Wise Balance – up to 5 million AUD

Where can I send from?

You can only send AUD to Wise from a bank account in your name within Australia. You can’t send AUD by Swift. 

If you are sending money to Wise with Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS), also known as Local or Domestic Telegraphic Transfer, check that the beneficiary details include the BSB code 774001 or 802985. RTGS transactions of any amount (subjected to your sender bank’s limit) can be accepted for account details with BSB code 774001. On the other hand, account details with BSB code 802985 can accept RTGS transactions that are more than 50,000 AUD.

Always double-check the correct account details.

How long does it usually take for the money to arrive?

It usually takes 0–2 working days for your money to get to Wise, depending on how you pay for your transfer. Then, we convert it and send it out. Conversion can take up to 2 working days. 

Check the guide for the currency you’re sending to for an estimate on how long it will take to arrive in your recipient’s account after we send it out.

I’ve cancelled my payment, how long will my refund take?

We’ll let you know when we’ve refunded your money. The time it takes for you to get your refund depends on how you paid,

  • Card payments take 2–10 working days

  • Bank transfers take 1–2 working days

  • Manual bank transfers take 5-10 working days

  • RTGS transfers take up to 5 working days

Make sure to wait until the above time frame has passed before getting in touch about a refund — we’re not able to speed up the process.
